Bristol, Vermont

Submit your film.

Submissions are open through May 23rd, 2025 and can be made via link to YouTube, Vimeo or other site.

Guidelines:

  • Videos can be crew or solo projects with a run time of 2-20 mins. Somewhere in between is probably the sweet spot.

  • We are not looking for throw away, Instagram edits but actual projects you have worked on or are still working on.

  • Creativity and originality will go a long way. We’ll be watching a lot of skate films the day of the fest so will be leaning towards projects that are gonna hype folks up.

About Gitaskog

This summer, the Gitaskog Film Festival kicks off in Bristol, Vermont. A celebration of skateboarding and film, Gitaskog is all about bringing skaters, filmmakers, and the larger community together to showcase the art that makes this activity so special.

Filmers are invited to submit any skate video project between now and May 23rd, 2025.

We want to bring together skaters from all over New England and beyond for an unforgettable weekend of camping, skating, river lounging and celebrating in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

The festival’s name is the Abenaki word for the creature that is now known as Champ. The aim is to honor this land and its people with the spirit of this event.

Skateboarding is as wild as the rivers and mountains that surround us, it’s an expression of freedom and community. The videos skaters make are often pure passion projects who’s only purpose is to inspire their friends. We want to see these videos and we want to celebrate this passion!

All profits from this event will go toward the Bristol Skatepark Project, so every clip and every session helps build something bigger. If you show up, this could be a real special event.

Stay tuned for updates on lodging, camping, and event details. For general questions, wanting to volunteer or if you’re a brand or business looking to get involved, reach out using the contact info below.

See you in Bristol!

Schedule

July 26th - @ Bristol Skatepark

2:00 pm - Skate Jam + live music/DJs

5:00 pm - Break for Dinner + Food Vendors

6:30 pm - Skate Films Start*

(Start time of films will depend on visibility of the screen. Though we have a tent it will also be outside so films may start later than 6:30pm if needed)

Additional Updates: Since this is a bare bones operation we have decided to just focus on July 26th (rather than trying to do 3 days) and making that as fun as possible. Looking for volunteers to help on that day with a ton of different jobs. Also if local businesses or skate shops want to get involved hit us up!

WHERE TO STAY

Ok, the standard map can be deceiving for this area. Towns that look mere miles apart can be separated by a literal mountain range. I’ll list area Hotels below. If you are searching for spots on Airbnb put in “Bristol Vermont” and work from there. Middlebury is about 20 mins away and because of its college has more hotel and lodging options so is probably your best bet. If you get confused or have questions about a place just contact us. Otherwise I’m assuming most folks know how to use the internet to book a hotel or airbnb.

Camping

Regular campgrounds that have showers and toilets but cost money:

Primitive Camp spots (Public land with no amenities where it’s legal to pitch a tent, bathe in the river!):

  • National Forest Rd. 291 - This is up in Lincoln and a great drive in and camp spot. Just put your tent somewhere off the road in case late night revelers come driving down late at night.
